Bangladesh Premier League BPL T20 2016 will be starting on 4th November 2016. This will be the 4th season of this heavily exciting tournament. The first two seasons champion was Dhaka Gladiators. The third season champion was the new team Comilla Victorians. Mashrafe Mortaza became the golden touch captain by winning all the 3 seasons championship as a captain. This time, in the 4th season of BPL, there will be 2 more teams in addition to the last seasons 6 teams.
HISTORY OF BPL:
Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) was started first in 2012. The tournament was inspired by the Indian Premier League (IPL). In the first tournament, 6 franchises participated corresponding to the 6 divisions of Bangladesh. They were: Dhaka Gladiators, Duronto Rajshahi, Chittagong Kings, Barisal Burners, Khulna Royal Bengals and Sylhet Royals. The second season was even more exciting by the addition of another team Rangpur Riders. Mashrafe Mortaza led Dhaka Gladiators to glory on both occasions. Barisal Burners were the runners-up in 2012 and Chittagong Kings were the runners-up in 2013. BPL didn’t occur in 2014. In 2015, BPL came back with the 3rd season with 6 teams. Comilla Victorians, led by the captain special Mashrafe Mortaza won the tournament in their first attempt. This time, there will be two more teams than the last season. So, this season will be even more exciting one.
BPL-2 & MATCH FIXING:
The third season of BPL was postponed due to the match fixing issue, done by some cricketers including one of the best talents of Bangladesh, Mohammad Ashraful. He was found guilty in fixing a match between Dhaka Gladiators and Chittagong Royals. ICC’s Anti-Corruption & Security Unit (ACSU) investigated the match and found some serious fixing issues in it. Mohammad Ashraful confessed in front of the media with a crying face. Still, BCB banned Mohammad Ashraful for 8 years, which was reduced later to 5 years including 2 years of the pardonable ban. Mohammad Ashraful has been allowed to play the domestic matches from 13th August 2016. He can not play the BPL 4 2016 as he is in the time period of 2 years pardonable ban. He can play BPL and international matches from 13th August 2018.
BPL-4 TEAMS:
BPL T20 2016 will be held among 7 teams. There were no team for Rajshahi andKhulna in the previous season. So, those two teams will be included this time to make the tournament more exciting across the country. Sylhet will be kept away from the tournament for violating the rules in BPL 3. As Bangladesh team will visit New Zealand for a tri-series in December, BCB decided not to lengthen the BPL 4 and keep it short in 7 teams. Here are the teams for BPL T20 2016.

BPL 4 players auction will be held on 30th September 2016. It will be done by lottery. Meanwhile, 133 Bangladeshi players list has been prepared for the auction. Alike the previous year, franchises will be able to pick up players by choice before and after the auction. The auction will occur for the players who are yet to be picked up by the teams.
